Navigation is the process of reading and controlling the movement of a craftfrom one place to another. It is also the term of art used for the specializedknowledge used by navigators to perform navigational tasks. The wordnavigate is derived from the Latin “navigare”, meaning “to sail”. Navigationaltechniques include Bridge Simulator -for training cadets in the use of ECDIS,Radar plotting, Steering and applying the knowledge of InternationalRegulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea to maintain safety of navigation.
