All machinery on ship must operate within certain desired parameters.Instrumentation enables the parameters – pressure, flow, level etc., to bemeasured or displayed against a scale. Control is also required in order tochange or alter the displayed reading to meet particular requirement. Control must be manual (opening or closing of the valves) or automaticwhere change in the parameter results in action which return the valve todesire point without human involvement.

Salient features-

1. Lab is equipped with modern SCADA (PID) system which controls theparameters like flow, pressure and level manually as well asautomatically.
2. Hydraulic and pneumatic training kits guide cadets to understand andwork on equipment’s on-board ship such as cranes, steering gears,governors of engines etc.
3. Programmable logic controller (PLC) gives knowledge about automaticcontrol of parameters such as level in fuel or water tank, stepper motorcontrol to control radar system by programming on computers.
4. Various charts of hydraulic valves are provided to understandconstruction and working of them.
